Engrish is an idea that perhaps the English teachers around here are not quite doing their job. It technically qualifies as English, in that it uses English words and grammar, but it just isn't right. I saw a store that was named, "Cafe Wimpy."
Apparently, there is an attraction towards the English characters, much like how some kids in America have Japanese or Chinese characters tattooed on themselves. Nobody quite knows what it means, but native speakers are all laughing at the joke. Well, the tables have been flipped, and now I'm laughing.
Of course, add to all this that cute culture is really quite prevalent here, and you get this extreme mess of half good English trying to be cute English. It can be quite exhausting. Keep checking this site as I'll take pictures of more and more examples along the way.
